Aim of Weekend: To offer a peaceful countryside setting in a gorgeous 17th century farmhouse where you can learn new writing techniques and be inspired and encouraged to put them into practice by professional, working writers. Most importantly, we want you to have a good time while learning.
Price:
Residential: £150.00 inc. of accommodation, meals, coffee and tea.
Non-Residential: £100.00 inc. of lunches, dinners, coffee and tea. (Breakfast not included).
Tutors:
Janet Cameron and Paul Curd, both published and award-winning writers and teachers.
Host:
Farmer’s wife, Kathy McLean, herself a committed and talented writer, will be treating us to her healthy, delicious home cooking.
Programme of Events:
Friday pm: 6.00pm – Arrival, ice-breaker, a light-hearted writing exercise to get you on track, and dinner.
Friday evening: Time to relax and get to know everyone.
Saturday am: On Using Words to Bring Characters to Life (Paul Curd)
Saturday afternoon: Write a Story in a Session (Janet Cameron & Paul Curd)
Saturday evening: Plenary – Get together and read out your own work if you want to, with constructive help from the tutors.
Sunday am: Make Language your Tool, not your Master (Janet Cameron)
Sunday pm: One-2-One tutorials. 30 minutes per session.
Sunday, 6.00pm: Time to go home to work on all your new ideas.
